
Salmon Season opens July 16!
With the salmon opener on California’s American, Sacramento and Feather rivers coming up on July 16, I figured it might be time to help you guys shake some of the rust off from all those years of closures! Salmon Season: It's On
It’s official: The California Fish & Game Commission today adopted the 2011 salmon seasons for California inland waters (Sacramento, American and Feather rivers) — and also for the Klamath and Trinity rivers. And Feather River anglers rejoice…your voices were heard. The proposed regs had the Feather opening Aug. 16 but the Commission decided on July 16 instead!

Well, the International Sportsmen’s Exposition rolls into Sacramento Jan. 21-24 and, as usual, I’ll be there at the seminar stage in the California Sportsmen Theater.
This time around, I’ll be yakking about how to catch Delta stripers the fun way — gill nets. Kidding, of course! Actually, I’ll cover what you need to know about casting lures like topwater, swimbaits and jigs. For the first time ever, I’ve only got one appearance at this show — Sat., Jan. 23 at 3PM, so come by and check it out. And oh, by the way…I already checked…the NFL championship games are both on Sunday, so no conflict there!

Okay, so she’s not the Dean or the Babine or the Klamath or the Rogue. And she won’t ever be compared with the Cowlitz or the Hoh or the Sandy or the Smith.
