Shasta Lake Fishing Report
Report Updated April 23, 2012
LAKE RISING BUT TROUT & BASS BITE
The bass bite is picking up here on Senkos, tubes, drop shot and even a little topwater if you can find a warm spot. There are a few fish on beds, but the majority are still holding just off the edge — and this week is going to be cooler so the spawn may hold off a bit longer. Right now, surface water temps are 60-61.
Salmon trollers have been doing pretty well on hootchies and anchovies in 60-90 feet off the dam and Dry Creek. Trout fishing is also pretty good 25-35 feet down with Sling Blades and Wiggle Hotchies in pinks and greens. Centimunii and Dry Creek are the best spots and the fish are 20 feet down.

About Shasta Lake
The crown jewel of California reservoirs, Shasta has it all…epic scenery, awesome fishing and even plenty of room for lovers of, well, let’s just say water sports other than fishing. Just beyond the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, Shasta’s got landlocked king salmon, rainbow and brown trout to 10 plus pounds, tons of spotted bass, along with smallies and largemouth…not to mention a bunch of catfish, panfish and maybe even a sturgeon!
