With spring training finally underway, my brain has, predictably, turned to baseball. With the recent unveiling of the Miami Marlins’ new look, I started sniffing around and it turns out that there are quite a few teams out there (mostly college and minor league) that have fish in their names.
Here are several…which one has the best logo?

So, I suddenly have a huge jones for throwing the two-hander after watching this…and, don’t those rivers in Iceland look bad-ass? I know this would be considered sacrilege, but I’ve always had this secret fantasy about hitting those Atlantic salmon with a big gob or eggs or a sand shrimp under a bobber. Pretty sure that would be as about as stupid as it gets. And don’t even get me started on wanting to throw big rip baits for those monster sea-run browns in Tierra Del Fuego! Ding Dong School!

Will the Middle East become the world’s hottest new fly fishing destination? The Red Sea a hot bed for Hootchie and flasher sales? Not likely, but Salmon Fishing in the Yemen could be an interesting flick. A friend gave me the book about 5 years ago and, while it was a good read, I would never have imagined it would have been made into a movie. Perhaps date night with the wife is in order…

Check out the pandemonium as this South Florida harbor erupts with baitfish getting absolutely lit up by predators. Funny thing is, the guys in the video don’t seem to realize WHY the mullet are going crazy. For pete’s sake, boys grab a rod!!
