Okay all you fish heads, can you identify this beast from the deep?

It was caught by some friends of a friend last week off the Nor Cal coast while they were trolling for albacore.

Anybody know what it is?

Very rare and incredibly valuable; that is a running board from a 1947 Hudson pickup. Troll up another and sell them as a matched pair!

I’ll side with John and Bentley. I think Oar fish and ribbon fish are the same thing, This one looks to be a young one since they can get up to 40′to 50′ long.

It looks like a small Oar fish

I think it’s lost, should be in the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico… that’s where Cutlass Fish habitate..at least it seems to be one. They are prehistoric fish and live in very deep seas. Long and snakelike, could be confused with a type of eel… maybe its an omen … we can always blame it on global warming….
