It means work and income for their families. The more work or income the longer, they can assist in there Village? The commercial fisheries are down, jeopardising, there lively hood and the way of life? The people, that are opposed, are all us fisher men, that want to preserve the spawning grounds, Or people, that have Seen the depletion of the Salmon grounds from man exploration of the lands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like the Pebble mine. I love the Togiak River and the Nushagak River, all natural rivers, no dams, from the Salt water, to the lakes, beautiful rocks, beds, crystal clear water, no moss, great gravel beds for spawning for 5 species of salmon!!!! But even all the runs, have been late, Over the past two years!!!!!!!!!! This year the Nushagak in in trouble. Wake up America, We need to look at all the fisheries. Just look at the San Joaquin River and the Sacramento River in California? We do have an impact on our Salmon fisheries!!!!!!!! Yes, we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!Lets divert more water out of our rivers and send it down to Southern California and pour more sewage into our rivers by every city, that is on the river system and see if the Salmon can survive!!!!!!!! May be Alaska should wake up and see what is happening all around them? California, Oregon, Washington, Canada. Japan and USSR, that may impact the fisheries!!!!!!!!!!May be Alaska fisheries will be next?!!!!!!!!!! I know there is an impact already!!!!!!!!MJP

The most interesting about this issue is a lot of locals like the residents of Togiak Village are in favor of this Pebble Mine are in favor of this operation!
