Yep, we figured that was a tough fish to beat!
It was a close battle between two epic 20 plus pound steelhead, but in the end, Dave Pitts and his buddy with the Giant Oregon Steelie took the popular vote and will now be entered into the Hawg of the Year finals in December.
Here’s a look at the final results…

Guys , I have met Dave on several occasions, he is 5’5″ tall, look where his hands end and the distance between his finger tips and that steelheads back , That fish is huge and would suspect it is larger than what he says it is having met him.
It might be a few inches from his chest but it is not out there. look how low his hands are, if he were holding it out it would be normal for a human to be more straight out in front of his chest, his hands are in front of his stomach, you can see the arm pits of his jacket, thats a BIG fish.
Both are incredible fish, no doubt Good job putting them back
I stand corrected. You are right Bryan. Guess I just got excited for the rookie. Thank you for pointing out the reel truth. Shake his hand for me next time you see him.
Both are sweeeeet fish! The rookie does not seem to be holding his fish way out in front of him. Its a great pic. And the Oregon fish………Nice job putn it back! Cheers to you sir!
In other words… Rookies fish is true to it’s pic size. He’s not trying to make the fish look bigger by holding the fish closer to the camera. Give it up for the guy!
Ya gotta give the win to the rookie since he’s now doomed to a life of NEVER catching another one like that!!!
P.O.D.
The giant Oregon steel deserves some respect because it was put back in the river. Both are awesome fish though!
