Okay, so I’m the latest finned critter in JD’s Name that Fish Contest, which he does on a semi-regular basis here. See if you can figure out who I am. But first, please allow me to introduce myself. I’m a man of wealth and taste…uh..sorry about that one. Got a little carried away there. What? is it against the law for a fish to like the Stones? So sue me!
Anyway, you’ve probably met me before but didn’t know it…perhaps in some sort of processed fishwich at a fast food joint. Or maybe in a fish taco or fish stick. Yep, I’m yummy, flaky and mild..so they say, anyway (I’ve never partaken in the forbidden ritual).
I’m not considered much of a gamefish here on the West Coast, though my cousin’s got some fans in Europe and Norway. I normally spend most of my time in deep water, though I can be caught near shore at times.
Who am I?? And “Fillet-O-Fish” isn’t an answer!

this is a pollock
Walleye Pollock
Ok, out on a limb, how about kelp greenling?
Nope, Pacific cod of some sort.
Well, honestly, I'm not too sure either! I caught a bunch of these guys off the beach in Kodiak, Alaska in August. Definitely a true Pacific cod of some sort…
Definately a Cod. Is it a Atlantic or norweigen its orange or golden, unlike the grey dark colored cod we have here in the pacific.
That fish is an Atlantic Cod
Alaskan Pollock
Well Mr. Fishwich my guess is that you must be a Pacific Cod.(Gadus Macrocephalus) related to the Atlantic Cod. Any one up for some filet-o-fish??
Atlantic Cod
Its a Hake(SP) otherwise known as "Russian Salmon", use to be insanely prevelent in Puget sound until they opened it to commercial fishing, now your lucky to see one….
Hake
That's a Hoki!
