Kings on the Fly…in the Salt!

Saltwater Fly caught King
Okay, so the entire FishWithJD gang fishes a lot, but with as much as our pal Mark DeShields wets a line, we may have to make him an honorary member of the team. Lately, he’s been on the tuna trail, but he also recently got back from Juneau, Alaska where he flyfished for kings…in saltwater.

He said the trip was pretty epic…
“It was cool…these kings will get you into your backing in a matter of seconds,” he says. “The fishing was very challenging — I ended up with 10 to the net and lost quite a few others.”

“The last three hours of the out-go were the shit for us on this trip,” says Mark. “The boat stuff was so good, we never had to go over to the DIPAC hatchery (luckily!). We also put out a couple crab pots and cleaned up on the Dungies!”

The big fish for the trip...
