You guys know by now that I’m always on the lookout for “Taxidermy Gone Bad” and, I’m pleased to announce, we’ve got a couple nice new additions to the collection here. I especially like this lingcod head…a wonderful blend of creepy, strange and more than a dash of disturbing.
But wait, there’s more!
Here’s one that our pal Rod Vin Steel sent in…from what I understand, I think Thomas Jefferson caught this striper on the Potomac River!!!!!!!

And then, how about a closer look at our lovely cover model…

Don’t forget to pass along any pix of Taxidermy Gone Bad that you run across!

yah those mounts look frightful . i myself specialize in fish reproductions and skin mounts , mainly steelhead and salmon. what i have found the day you finish a mount of organic matter ,weather fish or deer , over time it breaks down and looks like sh== given a good amount of time =years. thets one reason those big steelies look good in fiberglass. but nothing really beats your own skin mount , believe me its not the same. when a person asks you caught that i hesitate and say ya kinda . ,well thats a repro of one i caught but mine was longer. o well.
JD,
I think Rod should lose MAJOR karma points for submitting two pictures from Fosters. And the striper isn’t the worst mount on the wall. Ya gotta check out the Arctic char!!
At the very least he could have walked (or staggered as the case may be) up the street to the Striper and showed those sterling examples of Taxidermy Gone Bad.
